Study Abroad

The purpose of the Study Abroad program is to encourage the development of intercultural and international understanding. The course offerings promote travel study classes throughout the world that will encourage students to experience living abroad, helping them appreciate global issues through the lens of another culture or language and to develop a deeper understanding of the world around them, their country, and themselves.

Spanish in Spain: June 26 - July 18, 2025

Join Â鶹ӳ»­ Spanish Professor Nicole Carrier nicole.carrier@napavalley.edu for NVC's annual Spanish Immersion Program in Salamanca, Spain this summer. The program begins in Madrid, where you will spend a day touring the city and visit the world famous Prado Museum and Royal Palace. After two nights, take a private motorcoach to Salamanca, where you will meet your host family and settle into this laidback university town. Spanish classes are carried out every morning from 9:00am-1:00pm, leaving you with plenty of time to explore.

Your host family will cook you breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, if you wish. This program also includes an excursion to the beautiful towns of Segovia and La Granja. 


Business in Japan: July 6 - July 18, 2025

Tokyo and Osaka will be our dynamic classrooms as we dive into the unique business culture of Japan. Discover how tradition and innovation intersect, from visits to cutting-edge startups and established corporations to immersive cultural activities. Experience Japan’s rich heritage with visits to vibrant markets, serene temples, and iconic site. You'll also have the chance to participate in a hands-on sushi-making class, blending culinary art with cultural insight.

Whether your interests lie in business, culture, or cuisine, this journey promises an enriching experience that will broaden your perspective and leave a lasting impression.


Statistics in the Mediterranean: July 19 - July 29, 2025

Join Math Professor Ana Clare Elizarrarás anaclare.elizarraras@napavalley.edu to study statistics in Slovenia & Croatia. Students will learn statistics in a unique international context while traveling through the Mediterranean.

Students will learn content in the weeks prior to departure. The focus will then shift to completion of a capstone project once abroad. The international portion of the class begins in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and includes visits to Zagreb and Rab Island in Croatia.

Academic activities will be enhanced by cultural excursions to Plitvice Lakes, Postojna Caves, and local markets. Students will also enjoy guided tours as well as participate in a cooking class.
