Donations help make it possible for us to provide direct support to students. We appreciate the generosity and support of the campus and greater commmunity.
Types of Donations We Accept:
Monetary donations to the Basic Needs Center go directly to supporting our students.
We accept food donations! We cannot accept opened or expired food items. We do not accept pet food.
The types of food donations we accept include:
- Canned veggies
- Canned soup
- Fruit
- Crackers
- Cereals
- Pastas
We accept unopened toiletry items including:
- Hair care
- Skin care
- Menstrual products
- Oral hygiene item
- Childcare products including diapers and wipes.
We accept clean and undamaged household items including:
- Pots and pans
- Cutlery
- Dishes
- Home decor
- Small appliances
Stormy's Closet is located in the Basic Needs Center and is available for all students in need of clothing support. We cannot accept clothing with stains, holes or odors. Limit 1 bag of clothing per donation, please.
We will accept the following clothing and accessories:
- All sizes and styles of adult clothing (except for undergarments)
- Professional attire
- Seasonal clothing (ex: jackets in winter)
- Backpacks, bags, totes
- Shoes
- Hats, beanies, and scarves

We at NVC recognize the unique needs of all of our students and understand that not having basic needs met can impact students’ health and wellbeing. The Basic Needs Center strives to support all NVC students with equitable access to food, housing, and financial, physical, and mental wellness resources.

Basic Needs Allyship Training
Every wondered how to identify students in need of basic needs resources? The Basic Needs Center allyship training covers the resources on campus and in the community to support students plus how to embed services throughout campus.
This training will include scenarios and examples for faculty and staff to share best practices and obtain resources to increase their knowledge about supporting students' basic needs.
